COVID-19 Resources

March 15 update

Minneapolis Public Schools will be open on Monday, March 16, and will then be closed beginning Tuesday, March 17, to slow the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). Classes will resume on Monday, April 6 unless otherwise notified.

  • Beginning on March 17, Minneapolis Kids sites will be closed and all Minneapolis Community Education classes are cancelled as well.
  • Athletic activities have already been cancelled by the Minnesota State High School League
  • Beginning on Wednesday, March 18, the Davis Education Center will be closed to the general public.
  • The Student Placement Services Office will be closed beginning on Tuesday, March 17.

If you choose to keep your child home on Monday, please call your school office so the absences can be marked as excused.

Student Meal Supports

As soon as possible, “grab and go” meals will be available for students at sites across the city. When ready, lunch distribution sites and times will be found on our COVID-19 resource page.

This is new territory for all of us. We are working with local and state officials, including the Minnesota Department of Health and Minnesota Department of Education, to navigate this evolving situation and provide families with as many supports as possible throughout this situation.

Thank you for working with us in our community’s collective response to COVID-19. We appreciate your patience. You should expect periodic updates from Minneapolis Public Schools while schools are closed or until further notice.

If you have other questions or concerns, your school principal will be available by phone or email. This MPS webpage includes frequently asked questions in English, Hmong, Somali and Spanish, as well as other resources and helpful information.
